Conference at Alternatiba Léman - Encouraging artistic production to offer alternative teaching methods and reconnect with the earth
Tue, Aug 29, 2023, 8:15 – 9:15 PM
With Alexandra Slotte (Art-werk/La Libellule), Bernard Vienat (reconnecting.earth), Mathieu Pochon (Art-werk)
Is it possible to combine a theoretical approach to sustainability issues with a sensitive, creative experience? Whether it's observing nature or creating drawings or plays in the classroom, a participative and creative approach allows everyone to express and exchange their ideas about the future of our environment. Thanks to the biennial event (re)connecting.earth and the work produced by the artists for this nomadic exhibition in Geneva, the art-werk association is offering a program of workshops and an exhibition for primary schools on the theme of urban ecology (biodiversity, water and soil).
Produced with the help of nature education specialists from associations such as Pro Natura, and with the support of the Nature en Ville program, the content makes a multi-disciplinary link between art and the environment. The round-table discussion will bring together the director of the (re)connecting.earth Biennial, the educational manager of the Art-werk program and a botanist who runs the Duchamp in the Garden workshops. It will look at possible ways of integrating awareness-raising and the transmission of ecology-related knowledge within schools, in order to move away from a purely cognitive aspect and redirect towards a sensitive approach to our environment.
