Seba Calfuqueo was born in 1991 in Santiago, where they live and work. Their work draws on their Mapuche cultural heritage to offer a critical reflection on the social, cultural and political status of the indigenous subject in contemporary Chilean society and in Latin America as a whole. Through installations, ceramics, performances and videos, they explore cultural similarities and differences, as well as the stereotypes arising from the intersection between indigenous and Western ways of thinking. Their artistic research also aims to make visible issues of feminist and sexual dissidence.
